Flogging Molly has kept busy since they first formed in 1997. Their current discography consists of six studio albums, three live albums, one extended play, fifteen singles and eight music videos. As you can imagine, this comprises an incredibly wide range of music that maintains that Flogging Molly sound which combines King’s background in rock and the band’s deep interests in traditional Irish music.

Studio Album Info

The band’s first studio album, Swagger, was released in 2000. This inaugural effort was critically praised, with AllMusic calling it a combination of the “folk of the Pogues with an Oi! blast by way of the Dropkick Murphys”. The reviewer specifically called the music “perfect for any barroom brawl”. And Punknews.org gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

But the band’s most successful album to date is their fourth album, Float. The album was released on March 4, 2008 and debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. It also sold 48,000 copies in the first week alone and peaked at #1 on the Billboard Independent chart and #2 on the Billboard Alternative chart. The album was noted for featuring darker and more political themes with less of the whimsy and punk-influence of previous albums.

And earlier this year, Flogging Molly released their latest album, Anthem. It is their first studio album since 2017’s Life is Good and the first album to feature banjo player Spencer Swain.
